University of Virginia

We wandered around "The Grounds" when Jamie was here, and I would be perfectly happy to attend a graduation at this beautiful campus. :) We said hello to Mr. Jefferson, and the kids ran around the lawn. I peeked into the pavilion gardens, but I wasn't sure if they were private or not, so I curbed my enthusiasm. (It turns out that even though the residences are private, the gardens are not, so I was a legal peeping Martha. :) ) This is only a very small random sampling of the many photographs Jamie took. The children enjoyed having their very own one-person paparazzi snapping photos all day.

This was Nathaniel the morning of our tour saying, "Let's go already!"

Mr. Jefferson was enjoying some champagne in honor of graduation the weekend before. :)

This is the the "chalk outline" photo. Cora was tired and hot, so she took a little rest in the shade. :)

Shiloh was being introspective...and lovely.

Jackson was all about the silly photos that day (we did a posed one earlier, so he thought he'd ham it up for all of them after that point -*sigh* - boys!).

Wardrobe Malfunction

So I've been reviewing the kids' Sunday school lessons with them on Monday mornings while we complete whatever crafts or puzzles they had in their take-home papers. This is what occurred this morning:

Me: So what did you learn about in Sunday school class again? How Jesus changed on the mountain - the transfiguration?

Adah: Yes, Ma'am.

Me: And who was on the mountain with Jesus?

Adah (screwing up her face because she was thinking): Umm...Peter...and Susan? NO! Not Susan! (laughing hysterically) Not SUSAN like Chronicles of Narnia! Mommy, that funny! That FUNNY!!

Me: (running to the phone to call Daniel and choking)

And this makes me wonder what kind of version of The Message they're using in the kids' Sunday school class to try to make the lessons more relevant to today's world. It's a little disconcerting that Susan from The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe might be on the mountain with Peter.

Don't worry; we cleared up the confusion. Clearly, it was Edmund with Peter, not Susan.

Church Picnic

We had a Memorial Day picnic hosted at our elder's house. It was a lovely day - just perfect for barbeque, lemonade, chips, and barefeet, all of which we had. :) I noticed that there are not a whole lot of pictures of Abigail in this post. That would be because she was a blur the whole time. She was chasing people, tackling people, racing people, stopping briefly to collapse, and then she was off and running again. They all slept well. :) Thanks, Jamie, for the pictures. I'm sorry I'm too much of a bum to put them in order.

Jackson losing the ball (see above pics) resulted in this face. :)

And what were the adults doing while all this craziness was happening? Why, sitting and chatting, of course, with some eating thrown in.
Aww. Jamie made us do it. :) Daniel put up with it, as you can see from his face. This week we will have been married 13 years. I'm so grateful to God for him!!
